Total Cholesterol
Lab: MOHOTotal Cholesterol
Lab: MOHODescription
The Total Cholesterol Test is a blood test that measures the total amount of cholesterol in the blood, including both HDL ("good") cholesterol and LDL ("bad") cholesterol. Cholesterol is a type of fat that is important for many bodily functions, but high levels of LDL cholesterol can increase the risk of heart disease and other health problems.
During the Total Cholesterol Test, a healthcare professional will draw blood from a vein in your arm and send the sample to a laboratory for analysis. You may be asked to fast for 9-12 hours before the test to ensure accurate results.
Normal total cholesterol levels vary depending on age, sex, and other factors, but in general, levels below 200 mg/dL are considered desirable. High levels of total cholesterol may indicate an increased risk for heart disease and other health problems.
If your Total Cholesterol Test results indicate high levels of LDL cholesterol, your healthcare provider may recommend lifestyle changes such as a healthy diet and exercise, or medications to lower cholesterol levels.
At MOHO, we partner with NPHL-approved path labs to ensure the highest quality and accuracy of Total Cholesterol Test results. We also provide free sample collection at home for your convenience, as well as free consultation with doctors to help you understand your test results.
