What is C-Reactive Protein Quantitative Test?
C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is a protein that is produced by the liver in response to inflammation in the body. A C-Reactive Protein Quantitative Test measures the level of CRP in your blood to detect inflammation in the body.
Why is C-Reactive Protein Quantitative Test done?
A CRP test is done to detect inflammation in the body, which can be a sign of various health conditions like infections, autoimmune disorders, and cardiovascular diseases.
How is C-Reactive Protein Quantitative Test done?
A C-Reactive Protein Quantitative Test requires a blood sample. The healthcare professional will clean the area from where the blood is to be drawn, tie a band around your arm to make the veins more prominent, and draw the blood. The collected blood sample is then sent to the lab for testing.
What do the results of the C-Reactive Protein Quantitative Test mean?
The CRP level in your blood is usually low or undetectable unless you have an underlying medical condition that causes inflammation in the body. A high CRP level indicates the presence of inflammation in the body. However, the test cannot determine the location or cause of inflammation, and additional tests may be required.

There are no special precautions that need to be taken before the C-Reactive Protein Quantitative Test. However, inform your healthcare provider about any ongoing medications or medical conditions, as they may affect the test results.
