Lab: MOHODescription
Herpes Simplex Virus-1 IgG test is a blood test that helps in the detection of IgG antibodies against the Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 in the blood. The test is used to diagnose a current or past infection with the virus. HSV-1 is a common virus that causes cold sores or fever blisters around the mouth and on the face. It can also cause genital herpes. The virus is spread through close contact with an infected person.
The Herpes Simplex Virus-1 IgG test is a simple and easy test that requires a blood sample. The sample is collected from a vein in the arm using a needle. The sample is then sent to a laboratory for analysis. The test results usually take a few days to be reported.
The normal range for Herpes Simplex Virus-1 IgG test is negative, which means that there are no IgG antibodies against the virus present in the blood. If the test is positive, it indicates that the person has been exposed to the virus in the past, and the immune system has developed IgG antibodies against it. A positive result does not necessarily mean that the person has a current infection with the virus.
