Transferrin
Lab: MOHOTransferrin
Lab: MOHODescription
The Transferrin Test is a type of blood test that measures the levels of transferrin in the blood. Transferrin is a protein that helps transport iron in the blood, and the Transferrin Test is often performed as part of an iron panel or to diagnose iron deficiency anemia.
During the Transferrin Test, a healthcare professional will draw blood from a vein in your arm and send the sample to a laboratory for analysis. You may be asked to fast for 8-12 hours before the test to ensure accurate results.
Normal transferrin levels vary depending on age, sex, and other factors, but in general, levels between 200 and 360 mg/dL are considered normal. Low levels of transferrin may indicate iron deficiency anemia, while high levels may indicate iron overload or other conditions.
If your Transferrin Test results indicate abnormal levels, your healthcare provider may recommend further testing or treatment, such as iron supplements or dietary modifications.
At MOHO, we partner with NPHL-approved path labs to ensure the highest quality and accuracy of Transferrin Test results. We also provide free sample collection at home for your convenience, as well as free consultation with doctors to help you understand your test results.
