VDRL
Lab: MOHOVDRL
Lab: MOHODescription
The VDRL (Venereal Disease Research Laboratory) Test is a blood test used to screen for syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum. Syphilis can cause serious health problems if left untreated, including damage to the heart, brain, and other organs.
During the VDRL Test, a sample of blood is collected and analyzed in a laboratory. The test detects the presence of antibodies that the body produces in response to the syphilis bacterium. A positive VDRL Test result does not necessarily mean that a person has syphilis, as other factors can cause false positive results. Therefore, healthcare providers may recommend additional testing to confirm a diagnosis.
At MOHO, we partner with NPHL-approved path labs to ensure the highest quality and accuracy of VDRL Test results. We also provide free sample collection at home for your convenience, as well as free consultation with doctors to help you understand your test results.
The normal range for the VDRL Test is negative, which means that no antibodies against the syphilis bacterium are detected. A positive test result may indicate an active syphilis infection, a previous infection that has been treated, or a false positive result. Healthcare providers may recommend additional testing to confirm a diagnosis.
