Did you know that generally eye care professionals instruct removal of contact lenses prior to sleeping? However, nowadays, an extended wear version is available which can be used for 6 nights continuously. On the other hand, there are also newer items like silicone hydrogels which allow the wearing of contact lens to be extended to 30 continuous nights.
Here are ten ways in which you can use them with care:
TIP 1:
Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly before using contact lens. The hand-wash soap should not contain oil, perfume, or lotion. Dry your hands with lint-free towel and direct the contact lens using fingertips.
TIP 2:
Begin by holding the right lens on your index or middle fingertip. Do not use your non-dominant hand. Gradually pull down the lower lid of the eye with your ring or middle finger of the same hand. The upper lid should be held up firmly using the other hand.
TIP 3:
While placing the lens, make sure it is fixed on your iris. If it is not, you can slide it over the eyeball to get it into place. Blink gradually to settle the lens into the iris. Do not blink too fast as this might shift the contact lens. If you experience any pain or discomfort, then remove the lens and cleanse them thoroughly before using them again.
TIP 4:
Do not apply your makeup before wearing the contact lens. You could have to use eye drops while wearing the lens and if you make-up before, then the eye drops could ruin your makeup. Do not sleep with makeup on as this can result in irritation and pain in the eyes. This is caused by the entrance of fine makeup particles into the eyes.
