8 Tips to calm the crying baby
Soothing the crying baby is easy to tackle with these tips
Feed him Hunger is the most common reason why babies cry. Their small stomach does not hold much milk, so they feel hungry often. Breast milk makes babies strong. Once the baby is 6 months old or when his body is ready for other food start with fresh vegetable soups and porridge.
Warm bath Body temperature rises after a warm bath and drops after sometime. This drop puts the baby to sleep. Be sure to check the temperature of water.
Swaddle Babies are generally swaddled (wrapped in a cloth) after a warm bath, it simulates their condition in the womb. How tight should be the swaddling? It should be so tight that he can swing his arms and legs freely.
Constant noise In the womb, baby gets used to a constant sound like mother’s heart beat. Similar noise gives him a comfort zone. Simulate a constant dull sound, may be a running fan or a slow song. You can record the same and play whenever baby is uncomfortable.
Give him a ride Baby gets used to a lot of motion in the womb. Mimic the same. Take him out in a pram or swing him in a cradle. The intensity of motion which soothes varies from one baby to another baby.
Mother's touch Talk to me: Mother's voice is soothing to baby's ears. Babies tend to feel secure when their mothers talk to them.
Massage Babies tend to love skin to skin contact. Undress your baby and massage him using firm, slow strokes.
Distraction Introduce a new toy, a pet or show him a mirror wherein he can gaze at himself.
