NASALIS MUSCLE

The nasalis is one of the muscles in the nose and is also known as the naris muscle. It has two parts - compressor naris and dilator naris.

Origin

Maxilla

Insertion

Into the alar cartilage of the nose and the aponeurosis over the nasal bone.

Blood supply

Facial artery.

Nerve supply

Facial nerve.

Action

In situations where normal breathing becomes difficult, this muscle widens the nostrils to help more air to get in.
