ADDUCTOR BREVIS

Adductor brevis is a lower limb muscle situated in the inner portion of the thigh.

Origin

Pubis – inferior ramus, body of pubis.

Insertion

Femur – lesser trochanter.

Blood supply

Deep femoral artery.

Nerve supply

Obturator nerve.

Action

Main function of adductor brevis is to pull the thigh towards the body. When you stand on both your feet and move your upper body from right to left and vice versa, it also helps to stabilize the upper body.

Disease/Injury

Groin strain occurs if proper warm-up is not done before any heavy sports.

Muscle Exercise

Strengthen your adductor brevis muscle by practicing hip adduction exercises using a resistance band.

Interesting facts

You use the muscle to press the thigh together while riding a horse.
