ADDUCTOR MAGNUS

Adductor magnus is the triangular muscle located in the inner side of thigh.

Origin

Pubis, ischial tuberosity.

Insertion

Femur

Blood supply

Deep femoral artery.

Nerve supply

Tibial nerve, obturator nerve.

Action

Main function of adductor magnus is to pull the thigh towards the body and also bending and extending the thigh at the hip.

Disease/Injury

Groin strain occurs if proper warm-up is not done before any heavy sports.

Muscle Exercise

To strengthen the adductor magnus, you can practice overhead squats, multiplanar lunges, and kneeling torso twist.

Interesting facts

Adductor magnus muscle problems are usually seen in athletes and sportsmen.
