Gracilis is a thigh muscle located on the inner side.

Origin

Ischiopubic ramus of the pelvic bone.

Insertion

Tibia

Blood supply

Medial circumflex femoral artery.

Nerve supply

Obturator nerve.

Action

It helps to bring the thigh near the body. It also helps to bend the knee and rotate the leg when the knee is bending.

Disease/Injury

Gracilis muscle can get injured in any athletic activity like running. Proper stretching of gracilis muscle prior to activity helps to prevent the injury.

Muscle Exercise

You can perform the butterfly exercise to stretch the gracilis muscle.

Interesting facts

Wearing supportive shoes can prevent your thigh from getting injured.
