BRACHIALIS

The brachialis muscle is located in the arm below the biceps muscle.

Origin

Humerus – anterior surface.

Insertion

Ulna – tuberosity, coronoid process.

Blood supply

Radial recurrent artery.

Nerve supply

Musculocutaneous nerve.

Action

The brachialis muscle causes flexion at the elbow joint.

Disease/Injury

Brachialis tendinitis is a common injury due to overuse of the muscle.

Muscle Exercise

Exercises like barbell curls and cable curls help to strengthen the brachialis muscle.

Interesting Facts

This muscle forms a part of the cubital fossa, which is an important anatomical structure. Blood samples for investigations are usually collected from this area.
