Here are a few tips that could come in handy :
- Always make time for your relationships. Never take your partner for granted.
- Be genuine in your concerns. Listen to what your partner is saying while you talk to her/him.
- Do not offer advice. Most of the times, simple listening and few encouraging or motivating workday are all that is needed.
- Float through your conflicts. You may talk things over smoothly or have a heated passionate argument, but the main thing here is that you should not or should not make your partner feel the fear of expressing his or her thoughts. Hold to your beliefs but at the same time be sensitive and respect your partner’s thoughts and beliefs too.
- Don’t let boredom creep in. Make interesting everyday changes in life. You do not always have to ask ‘how was your day?’ when your partner returns from work. Chances are you will get the same reply ‘Fine, how was your’s?’ every day. Instead try asking something different, like ‘so, what made you smile today?’
- Keep your other friendships and relationships strong. One person cannot fulfill all your relationship demands. You would be very wrong if you exert that kind of pressure on your partner. Let your partner go drinking with friends at times or let your girl have her girls’ night outs occasionally!
- Keep your spaces well defined and do not intrude or allow your partner to intrude upon it.
- Keep your communication lines open always. Do not bring in the element of doubt, fear or apprehension. You are not on the right track if your partner is fearful or has to think twice about discussing anything with you.
- Find things that can keep you both interested and hooked on to. You may play a sport together, workout together or join a hobby class. Spending time together is a great way to bond and keep the magic alive.
- Last, but not the least, be grateful for your partner. Praise him/her, commend him/her, appreciate him/her. Tell him/her how thankful you are to have him/her in your life.
Good relations don’t happen. They take time, patience, and two people who want to be together.
