Causes and risk factors
In nursemaid injury, the radius bone slips from its normal position. This injury is more commonly seen in children as the ligaments which surround and support the joint are still loose hence they become more vulnerable for easy injury, causing dislocation of the bone. Lifting or swinging the child by his hand or wrist or pulling the child by holding his forearm can lead to dislocations. Injury caused due to trauma, fall, or blow on elbow joint is another contributing factor.
Clinical presentation:

Investigations:
Diagnosis is done on the basis of the symptoms narrated by the patient and the physical examination carried out by the orthopedic doctor. X-ray is usually done to rule out fractures and detect the dislocation. MRI and CT scan are advised to detect the ligament injury.
Treatment:

Dislocation of the bones need to be corrected by surgical means Reduction techniques are used. Certain physiotherapy exercises are advised to increase the mobility and strengthen the muscle.
