10 Hair secrets

Hair is an extension of your identity. Read on for ten tips for healthy and beautiful hair.

  • While brushing your hair

Brushing till you clear the knots is enough. You don’t have to brush a hundred times. Excessive brushing may damage the hair. Brushes with rounded tips cause less damage. Avoid brushing wet hair. If you need to brush, use a comb instead.

  • Limit hair blowers

It’s not advisable to use the blower always. Try using other methods like drying by keeping the towel on. Driers tend to damage hair, especially thin hair. If you need to use a drier, turn down the heat.

  • Fed up of thin lifeless hair!

Use a heavy conditioner. Go for the one which contains silicone such as dimethicone or diclomethicone. These conditioners lock the moisture up for a long time.

  • While choosing shampoo

Prefer the ones which suit your hair instead of getting addicted to brands. There are different shampoos for oily, dry and normal hair.

  • Healthy and nutritious

Leafy vegetables, beans, carrots, nuts and salmon fish are good for the hair too. They promote healthy, strong hair. Fad diets which are meant for quick weight loss may lead you to brittle hair and hair loss.

  • Go for a warm shower

Warm water is good for hair. Hot water tends to remove natural oil from hair making it dry. Massage your hair for a couple of minutes while shampooing.

  • If you have curly hair

If your hair is curly, instead of trying to comb in one shot, try in picks. You can use fingers through your scalp to tip, to sort out major knots. Then use a comb gently. Conditioner smoothes curly hair and reduces the number of knots.

  • Be wise while choosing hair colour

Some colours tend to damage hair. Use hair colours which are ammonia free. Such colours are gentle on your hair.

  • Keep the sun away from your hair

The sun damages hair, the way he damages skin. If you have to go in the sun, use a hat or scarf to cover hair.

  • Before you enter the pool

Wash your hair before you enter the swimming pool or wear a swim cap. Water in swimming pools is treated with chlorine which tends to damage hair. If hair is already wet, it won’t absorb much of chlorinated water.
