5 Sweet tips to manage your sweet sickness easy way!

  • Exercise

    Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. You can join a gym or a fitness club or look for friends who take a stroll in the park every day. If you don’t find 30 minutes in one go, split it into 3 intervals of 10 minutes each, in the morning, afternoon and evening. Exercise burns calories and prevents excess sugar pile up.

  • Don't skip medications

    You can keep a reminder in your phone, to remind you to take medicines on time. Keep medicines handy. Always remember to cross check medicines before you move out. Carry extra medicines when you are travelling.

  • Eat right and eat healthy

    Diabetes does not prevent you from eating your favourite foods. It’s all about restricting calories. Sweets are high in calories, healthy food like oats are low in calorie. Choose low-calorie food or balance the total calorie intake in a day. A dietician can help you know the right portions which you should eat.

  • Keep an emergency snack

    Insulin may contribute to hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia is a condition in which the blood glucose falls below normal levels. It gives rise to symptoms like dizziness, excessive hunger or anxiety. Consume something sweet to bring the blood sugar level to normal. Keep a small pack of toffees handy. This will help you to bring the blood sugar level to normal.

  • Don’t go bare foot

    Keep footwear at a very convenient location, may be near the exit door of your house. Don’t go out barefoot. Even minor injuries may take long time to heal due to diabetes.
