TALUS

The talus is the bone of the foot. The shape of the bone slightly resembles the turtle. The talus is a part of the larger cluster of bones in the foot known as tarsus.

Function

It plays a crucial role in the articulation of the ankle joint. It transfers the weight of the body to the foot and provides stabilization which allows people to walk.

Disease/ Injury/ Fracture

Fracture of the talus results from car accidents and fall or sports injuries.

Interesting facts

It is the only bone which has no muscle attachments and articulates directly with other bones.
