SCAPHOID

The scaphoid is a boat-shaped bone of the wrist. It is located between the forearm and the wrist on the outer side or thumb side of the wrist. It is just about the size of a cashew.

Function

The bone plays an important role in wrist movement and support.

Disease/ Injury/ Fracture

The bone is commonly fractured due to fall on the outstretched hand or on the tips of the fingers.

Interesting Fact(s)

The scaphoid bone is very small, but it requires twice the pressure to break it than any of the large bones in your arm.
