TRIQUETRUM

Triquetrum is one of the small bones that form the wrist. It is a triangular or pyramidal-shaped bone located on the pinky-finger side of the wrist.

Function

The bone plays an important role in wrist movement and support.

Disease/ Injury/ fracture

Triquetral fractures occur usually in motor vehicle accidents and falls. Crack in the triquetrum is commonly associated with pain, reduced mobility, and swelling around the wrist.

Interesting fact

The name triquetrum is derived from latin word triquetrus meaning “three cornered.”
