ULNA

The ulna is the bone of lower arm or forearm situated on inner side or pinky-finger side of forearm along with another bone called radius on the outer side. It extends from elbow to wrist.

Function

Ulna is used for movement of the forearm and it supports the arm. It helps to move the forearm away from body, towards the body, and helps to twist the wrist and turn your palm up and down.

Disease/Injury/fracture

A fall onto the outstretched hand or point of elbow can lead to fracture of ulna. It is common in older people and athletes. Ulna is fractured in sprain or dislocation of wrist or elbow.

Interesting Fact(s)

The bony point of the elbow, which most people think of as the elbow, is actually the tip the ulna bone.

The funny bone fact:  Ever felt the crazy pain sensation after you bang your elbow? The thing you hit is ulnar nerve that runs in groove of ulna bone close to skin!
