Causes and risk factors
The exact cause of Mucha–Habermann disease is not known. Infections associated with the disease include HIV, parvovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, cytomegalovirus, staphylococcus, streptococcus infection.
Clinical presentation
Patient presents with skin lesions commonly on trunk, arm, and legs. There are multiple papules on trunk, buttocks, and extremities. Papules rapidly convert into vesicle and hemorrhagic crusts.
Investigations
Medical history by the patient and clinical examination by the dermatologist helps in diagnosis. Skin biopsy is required.
Treatment
No treatment is available for Mucha–Habermann disease. Treatment is usually symptomatic. Treatment consists of phototherapy. Topical steroid, antibiotics, and immunomodulatory drugs help in treatment.
