Causes and risk factors
The exact cause is not known. Penile papule is contracted during sexual activity. The exact mechanism for development of this condition is not known. It is more commonly seen in uncircumcised men.
Clinical presentation:
Development of smooth, small, dome-shaped papules, which are flesh colored, happens. They are particularly seen on the corona or sulcus of the penis. Eventually, they can spread to the glans of the penis too. The patient remains asymptomatic. These papules persist throughout the lifetime.
Investigations:
Diagnosis can be done on the basis of the symptoms narrated by the patient and the physical examination carried out by the doctor. No investigation is required for this condition.
Treatment:
As the patient remains asymptomatic, no medical intervention is needed. Administration of medication to allay the anxiety of the patient needs to be done. Carbon dioxide laser therapy, electrodessication with curettage and excisional surgery are other effective ways of treatment.
Other modes of treatment:
