ARTICULARIS CUBITI

The articularis cubiti muscle is essentially a tiny branch of the triceps muscle. Another name for this muscle is the ‘subanconeus muscle.’

Origin

Triceps – medial head.

Insertion

Elbow joint.

Blood supply

Brachial profunda artery.

Nerve supply

Radial nerve.

Action

It helps to move the elbow joint.

Disease/Injury

The muscle is affected in elbow tendinitis, tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow.

Muscle Exercise

Exercises like push-ups and bench-presses increase the strength of the muscle.

Interesting Facts

Plenty of acupuncture points are present around the elbow.
