It helps to produce voice from the larynx.
Disease/Injury
Vocal cord paralysis – the superior laryngeal nerve gets damaged due to which the cricothyroid muscle do not work properly when the person sings in high note. Sometimes the person is able to speak normally, but is not able to sing.
