FLEXOR CARPI ULNARIS

The flexor carpi ulnaris is a muscle of the forearm.

Origin

Humerus – medial epicondyle.

Insertion

Pisiform bone.

Blood supply

Ulnar artery.

Nerve supply

Ulnar nerve – muscular branches.

Action

It helps to flex the wrist and also to twist the wrist, which is an extremely common action. You use the muscle in everyday life like pulling a rope toward the body.

Disease/Injury

Golfer’s elbow is a very common condition affecting the flexor carpi ulnaris. This condition gives rise to pain in the wrist and elbow.

Muscle Exercise

Wrist curls can be performed to increase the strength of this muscle.

Interesting Facts

You can palpate the muscle tendon at the wrist on the little finger side.
