The rhomboid major is a back muscle located in the upper portion.

Origin

T2-T5 vertebrae.

Insertion

Scapula

Blood supply

Dorsal scapular artery.

Nerve supply

Dorsal scapular nerve.

Action

The rhomboid major keeps the scapula in place. It also helps in pulling the scapula towards the spine.

Disease/Injury

Scapular instability can result due to a weak or damaged rhomboid major.

Muscle Exercise

You can strengthen your rhomboid by performing push-ups and shoulder press.

The rhomboid major is diamond shaped.
