Salpingopharyngeus is one of the muscles of soft palate and pharynx located on the eustachian tube.

Origin

Cartilage of the auditory tube.

Insertion

Into the pharyngeal walls and the thyroid cartilage.

Blood supply

Ascending pharyngeal artery, ascending palatine artery.

Nerve supply

Vagus nerve.

Action

It helps to move the larynx and pharynx upwards and help in swallowing food. It also opens the auditory canal while swallowing.
