Subscapular fossa.
Insertion
Humerus – lesser tubercle.
Blood supply
Subscapular artery.
Nerve supply
Upper and lower subscapular nerves.
Action
The subscapularis causes medial rotation of the arm and helps in all activities where the arm is raised.
Disease/Injury
Frozen shoulder is a common condition affecting this muscle along with other muscles of the rotator cuff. Athletes are prone to injure this muscle due to frequent overuse.
