SUPINATOR

The supinator is a muscle located on the back of the forearm.

Origin

Humerus, ulna, radial collateral ligament, annular ligament.

Insertion

Radius

Blood supply

Radial recurrent artery.

Nerve supply

Posterior interosseous nerve.

Action

The supinator helps in the turning movement at the hand. It acts as an accessory muscle to the biceps brachii.

Disease/Injury

Injury to the muscle or its excessive overuse can cause pain and swelling in the area of the muscle.

Muscle Exercise

Supination of the forearm using a resistance band strengthens your supinator muscle.
