TERES MINOR

The teres minor is a small muscle of the shoulder region. It extends from the scapula to the humerus.

Origin

Scapula

Insertion

Humerus – greater tubercle.

Blood supply

Posterior circumflex humeral artery, circumflex scapular artery.

Nerve supply

Axillary nerve.

Action

The muscle helps in abduction and rotation of the arm.

Disease/Injury

The muscle gets injured due to repetitive stress.

Muscle Exercise

Pull-ups, shoulder rotations, and bent-over rowing help to strengthen the teres minor muscle.

Interesting fact

This muscle helps to maintain the position of the head of the humerus.
