THYROARYTENOID

The thyroarytenoid muscle is also known as the vocalis muscle since it is attached to the vocal ligament.

Origin

The muscle arises from the thyroid cartilage.

Insertion

It inserts into the arytenoid cartilage.

Blood supply

Laryngeal branches of the superior and inferior thyroid arteries.

Nerve supply

Recurrent laryngeal nerve.

Action 

It helps to decrease the pitch of the voice.
