Tips to get rid of under-eye puffiness!

Are you tired of people commenting all the time on how tired you look? Irritated with questions on what has been making you lose sleep? Under-eye puffiness is a source of constant embarrassment! The bags under your eyes make you look tired and swollen and can be a huge cosmetic concern!

Treating under-eye puffiness should involve understanding and eliminating the root cause.
Under-eye bags can be a result of advancing age and heredity where nothing much can be done, except accepting them gracefully.

Under-eye puffiness can be temporarily fixed but one needs to address the cause to keep them from occurring again and again.

Too much stress, a drink too many, inadequate sleep, a diet deficient of the necessary vitamins or a dinner of French fries and burgers can also give you under-eye bags. Modifying your lifestyle can help in getting rid of your eye bags.

Recurrent eye infections and chronic sinusitis, menstrual cycle and kidney diseases too are causes of under-eye bags.

Here are some quick-fixes for treating the under-eye puffiness:

  1. Potato fix: Refrigerate a potato and once it is properly chilled, cut it into two halves. Rub these potato pieces gently over your eyes in circular motion. Let it remain on your eyes for about 15 to 20 minutes. You will feel the reduction in the puffiness almost instantly.
  2. Milk magic: Dip two balls of cotton in chilled milk. Place them on your eyes and let them remain so for about 20 minutes. This is a method that helps immensely if you have extremely puffed eyes.
  3. Oil wonder: Take a bowl of chilled water and mix a few drops of vitamin E to it. Dip 2 balls of cotton in this mixture and place them on your eyes for 15 to 20 minutes.
  4. Cucumber freshness: 2 slices of chilled cucumber over your eyelids for 20 minutes works wonders to reduce your eye bags. Cucumber’s natural anti-inflammatory properties have a soothing effect on the eye bags.
  5. Tea treat: Take two tea bags and place them in a cup of chilled water. Place the tea bag on your eyes. After about 15 to 30 minutes, you will not only have lost that puffiness, but you will also end up feeling rejuvenated! If the teabag is of green tea, especially chamomile tea, the better.
  6. Spoons and chilled water: This is the best remedy when nothing is handy. All you need is a cup of chilled water and 4 spoons. Dip the spoons in the water and place one on each eye. Keep switching with the spoons in the cup so that the chill effect on your eyes stays constant.

These are all quick fixes. Remember under-eye puffiness can have a serious underlying pathology like a kidney disease or may be a side effect to certain medication. So, in spite of all the lifestyle changes, if the puffiness persists, consult your doctor.
