Breasts are situated in the upper region of the chest on both sides of the body symmetrically, which contains mammary glands in it which help to produce milk.

Functions:

In adult females, after delivery, the breast provides milk to the baby. So lactation or feeding or nursing a baby is the main function of the breast.

Diseases:

There are various conditions that cause accumulations like cysts or tumors. They may be benign or malignant. The most frequent benign conditions are puerperal mastitis (inflammation of breast after delivery), fibrocystic breast changes, and mastalgia. (pain in breasts). Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women.

Interesting Facts:

Children who are breastfed tend to have an IQ seven times higher than children who are not.
