Functions:
There are two main functions of the testis first is production of sperms, seminiferous tubules are where sperm cells are created, they are immature till they come to the epididymis. The other function is hormone production; it produces androgen hormone or male hormone such as testosterone.
Diseases:
Testes are present outside the body so they are more prone to injury or blunt trauma. Testicular torsion, testicular cancer, hypogonadism is also disorder of testis where it cannot produce enough testosterone, in adult men this condition may produce erectile dysfunction, infertility, decreased sex drive, decrease in beard and body hair. There are some genetic or developmental disorders of testes like klienfilter’s syndrome, undescended testicles.
Interesting Facts:
Unlike other cells, which needs an individual’s full DNA to create a new human? Both half DNA from sperm and half DNA from ovum must be combined for humans to reproduce.
