TOE

Toes are fingers of foot in simple language. Anatomically it is the terminal segment of the lower limb. Humans usually have five toes on each foot. It consists of multiple bones and soft tissues which support the weight of the upright human.

Functions:

Toes assist us while walking, standing, providing balance, and weight bearing, and thrust during gait.

Diseases:

 Common disease conditions include sprain or strain to the small joints of toe called a stubbed toe. There are three main forms of toe abnormalities claw toes, hammer toes and trigger toe. Hammer toe is abnormal contraction and buckling of a toe. This is because of partial or complete dislocation of one of the joint which form the toes.

Interesting Facts:

Your big toes have two bones each while the rest have three. A pair of human feet contains 250,000 sweat glands.
