The vulva is a visible external genital organ of the female, including clitoris, vaginal lips and entrance to the vagina. It consist of major part of mons pubis, labia minora and majora, external portion of clitoris, urinary meatus, vaginal orifice, hymen, vaginal glands like bartholin's gland.

Functions:

It protects women’s sexual organs and urinary opening from trauma and infection. It is vital for sexual response, for sexual arousal and sexual orgasm. The vulva and perineum stretch to accommodate child birth.

Diseases:

Yeast infections are common which affect vulva.  Any skin condition like eczema, psoriasis,  irritant dermatitis, lichen planus, lichen simplex chronicus, vulvodynia which means unpleasant and distressed feeling in the vulva for more than 6 months which leads to burning, rawness, soreness of vulva. Discomfort may interfere with the sitting, wearing clothes, sexual activity even sexual activity can cause agonising pain.

Interesting Facts:

If the size of the vulva is too big the sexual intercourse will be less satisfactory to you and your partner.
