The biggest challenge for diabetics is to decide what to eat and what not to and develop a sense of control to sacrifice the foods you love the most. Most of the diabetics are seen to be struggling trying to keep up with the diet.
The matter of fact is that most of the foods that diabetics are asked to shun are the ones all of us should keep away from.
Here a list of some foods that you need to avoid to keep healthy in spite of being diabetic:
- Stay clear of processed foods.
- Junk the junk away.
- Tea, coffee, artificial juices are all which cause sugar shoot-ups.
- Potatoes, white rice and other foods with high glycemic index that can spike your sugar level should be cut down from your diet.
- Preserved foods, canned foods are a No-No for diabetics. Chips, pickles and salted nuts are to be avoided.
- Fruits are healthy but high-sugar fruits like bananas, custard apple etc. should be avoided.
- Chocolate bars and sweet candies can be hazardous as they are high in unwanted sugars which cannot be broken down easily and stay in blood for a long time.
- Dried fruits are high on sugar too.
- Carrots and peas have an inherent sweetness. Avoid them too.
It is the taste that matters. Make your food rather tasty. Salads can become your passion if you make them tasty. Do not add those dressings on top.
